British Fashion Council

The Face

London supermodel, Marks and Spencer front woman and the face of The British Fashion Council - Erin O'Connor is the quintessential British fashion icon. Whether channelling her inner English-eccentric or slicking back her elfin crop for a masculine charged tuxedo look, Erin always stands out from the crowd.

British Fashion Council and Creative London drinks party

A meeting of minds at Spencer House, where fashion lovers, fashion designers and models gathered for the Creative London London Fashion Week reception with the British Fashion Council. Natalie Massenet welcomed Giles Deacon, Olivia Grant and Alice Temperley with a huge grin and an even bigger drink. David Gandy cosied up to girlfriend Mollie King by the fireplace, Jack Guinness huddled with pals Alexa Chung and Daisy Lowe in the snug, while Giles got patted on the back for coming straight from his latest show. Such energy, this lot, don't mess with them.

New Sanctuary

THE British Fashion Council has taken over Erin O'Connor's Model Sanctuary. The model respite centre will be given a new name, but this has not yet been confirmed.

"After years of beg, borrowing and stealing, opening a vein, arm-twisting and blagging in general, I'm delighted to not have the responsibility of arranging the venue this time," laughed O'Connor. "I will continue to support every project that aims to protect the young and more vulnerable members of our industry and I will always be happy to help where I can."

The not-for-profit organisation was launched in 2007 to offer young models career advice, nutritional and fitness tips, as well as a space to relax and share any health and well-being issues with a number of professionals. In February this year, it was forced to close after its Covent Garden venue became subject to long-term lease but, with the BFC's support, the sanctuary will reopen with the continued aim of providing an invaluable resource to budding models.

"The British Fashion Council has had a role in supporting the initiative over the past five years and Erin's vision and dedication has been an incredible driving force, ensuring the continued success of the Model Sanctuary," said BFC chief executive Caroline Rush. "We'd like to say a huge thank you to Erin for all her support and we will strive to ensure that this initiative continues to thrive and provide an essential space for models to rest and relax during their hectic schedules over London Fashion Week."
